Initial production data is out for December in Alberta. BC and Saskatchewan are yet to report. Alberta has reported oil, condensate, and gas; full Alberta NGL data (including pentane) and marketable gas is due out in a couple weeks. While the December data won’t be considered complete until the rest of the Alberta data has been reported, it is nonetheless worthwhile to show the data as it stands today. Pentane volumes in Alberta will not be represented yet for December which will affect liquids results, and “gas equivalent” volumes will be used instead of “marketable gas” in cases where marketable gas is not yet available. As always, we use calendar day production metrics so these are real volumes produced in the month. Despite the incomplete version of this data, it is still interesting to present it as this data is fresh.

TOP 15 OIL/CONDENSATE WELLS – December volumes – Alberta only (see on map)
Notable oil/condensate wells:
- ARC Resources again took the top spots in December. This month, the company had 10 of the top 15 results. Many of these wells were represented in the November top well report, although some per well volumes (while still leading industry) did see drop offs from the November results, which is normal for these prolific Montney wells. Of course, many of these wells still have confidential status meaning producing hours are unavailable, so it’s possible that some of these wells did not have as many hours on production as the prior month.
- Spartan Delta had the top Duvernay oil wells in December, with 2 that cracked the top 15 overall. The top well produced 1,049 bbl/d, while both wells came from the Pembina field.
- Canadian Natural Resources had the top Dunvegan oil well in December, with a 1,040 bbl/d oil well from the Karr field.
- Veren had 2 of the top 15 oil/condensate wells in the month. These wells have been huge producers for the company throughout 2024. Both have been on production for less than 1 year, with one cumulatively producing 362,320 bbls while the other has cumulatively produced 435,755 bbls.
TOP 15 OIL/CONDENSATE WELLS – December volumes – Alberta only – initial liquids data (pentane volumes not yet reported for December)

*partial December data only, AB pentane volumes not yet reported. “Gas equivalent” volumes represented in gas column until “marketable gas” is reported. Cumulative column includes oil/condensate/pentane.
**TOP WELL REPORTS generally filter out oil sands/thermal wells, and only consider onshore Canadian production. However, BOE Intel subscribers can choose their own well types and include or exclude these wells
