Just kidding on tariffs? – In case headlines couldn’t get any crazier, Commerce Secretary Lutnick says a compromise announcement may come as soon as tomorrow

March 4, 20256:10 PM BOE Report Staff

Just in case you thought headlines couldn’t get any crazier or more manic from minute to minute, these headlines came across the wire after markets had closed for the day.

*LUTNICK: TRUMP MAY ROLL BACK CANADA, MEXICO TARIFFS TOMORROW

*LUTNICK: TARIFFS COMPROMISE ANNOUNCEMENT LIKELY TOMORROW

— *Walter Bloomberg (@DeItaone) March 4, 2025

While it’s possible it is denied, retracted, or altered at some point before one can even hit “Publish”, the Canadian dollar initially reacted positively to the news.

In an interview on Fox Business, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that the President was listening to Canada and Mexico, and that he thought that a deal would be worked out. “Somewhere in the middle will likely be the outcome.”

He thought that the US would “probably be announcing that tomorrow.”
