BC Crown land sales have been fairly quiet since reopening in December 2024 after more than a 3 year hiatus.
The combined dollar bonus from the first few sales was well below a million dollars, with no more than a few sections being sold at any of the initial land sales.
That has changed with the BC Crown land sale held on April 9, 2025.
In total, the BC government brought in $31.5 MM in its April sale, with the vast majority (~$31.4 MM) coming from one parcel of land, pictured in red below in Figure 1.
This parcel was for 8,093 hectares (~31.6 sections) and fetched a price of $3,877/ha.
The ultimate buyer is unknown and was represented by a land broker at this sale.
The land is directly west of Birchcliff’s Elmworth block. We show all Birchcliff mineral rights in yellow in Figure 1 for perspective, alongside all industry Montney spuds since 2020 in purple.
