Treeline Well Services Expands into Australia with 10-Year Contract to Supply Origin Energy’s APLNG Project

August 19, 20266:00 AM Sponsored Content

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Five high-spec service rigs to be designed and built in Queensland, backing local manufacturing, jobs, and a long-term Australian presence

CALGARY, Alberta — August 19, 2026 — Treeline Well Services is proud to announce its expansion into Australia, anchored by a 10-year contract to deliver five high-spec service rig packages for Origin Energy, operator of the upstream gas fields for the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) project.

Treeline’s entry into the market is a major milestone in the company’s long-term vision: creating geographic diversification within two stable oil and gas markets, providing a platform to share knowledge between these two regions, and positioning the business for continued growth. The expansion centers on Treeline’s philosophy of building new, modern equipment alongside like-minded operators — embodied in its motto:

“Great Iron… Even Better People”

“We’re not coming into Australia with a one-size-fits-all mindset. Our approach is to collaborate with operators, engineering partners, and local stakeholders to design rigs that are purpose-built for the Australian market and the long-term objectives of our customers.”

Matt Dagert — President, Treeline Well Services

Every rig is Australian-designed and manufactured in Queensland. This deliberate strategy to build rigs onshore reflects Treeline’s direct investment in Australian sovereign manufacturing capability — supporting local fabrication shops, engineering firms, suppliers, and the skilled tradespeople behind them. The build program is expected to create and sustain jobs throughout Queensland, and Treeline’s commitment to local industry and community continues through the hiring of crews and support personnel as operations ramp up.

These first rigs are just the beginning. Treeline sees this as the foundation of a long-term presence in Australia, with ambitions to build further capacity alongside reputable operators and to expand into additional basins across the country as opportunities grow.

“This is about people first. A long-term contract doesn’t just secure work — it lets us build genuine careers, invest in local talent, and give our crews and their families the stability to plan a future in Australia. We’re proud to be hiring and training locally, and equally proud to bring together the best people from around the world — Australia, Canada, the U.S., Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and beyond. Great iron deserves great people, wherever they come from, and we warmly invite A-plus crews and operators everywhere to apply and be part of what we’re building. Great iron is only ever as good as the people who run it.”

JD Watt — Executive Vice President, Treeline Well Services

Treeline is pleased to announce the hiring of Vincent James as the Managing Director for the Australian Business.  For opportunities in this exciting new chapter, reach out to him at Vincent.James@treelinewell.com.au.
