US crude and gasoline inventories rise, distillate stocks fall – EIA

U.S. crude and gasoline inventories rose while distillate stockpiles fell last week, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday.

Crude inventories rose by 4.4 million barrels to 428.8 million barrels in the week ended August 14, the EIA said.

Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub fell by 1.3 million barrels in the week, the EIA said.

Oil prices were flat following the report. Global Brent crude futures were trading at $91.85 a barrel, up 83 cents, at 10:43 a.m. ET (1443 GMT), while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were trading at $86.08 a barrel, up $1.14.

Refinery crude runs rose by 216,000 barrels per day, the EIA said, while utilization rates rose by 1 percentage points in the week to 97.2%.

U.S. gasoline stocks rose by 0.7 million barrels in the week to 209.4 million barrels, the EIA said.

Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.5 million barrels in the week to 105.6 million barrels.

Net U.S. crude imports fell by 1.75 million barrels per day, EIA said.
