US surpasses Saudi Arabia in oil reserves
According to research from Rystad Energy, a Norwegian research firm, the United States now holds more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia. United States onshore and offshore oil reserves now tops 264 billion barrels, more than Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Canada's 256, 212, and 167 billion barrels respectively. Since the third quarter of 2015, average metrics per play in Western Canada are substantially lower versus historical prices. This has been mainly caused by a ~50% drop in the price of oil.
