Western Canada’s fleet of drilling rigs went down by 74 rigs to the current count of 136 actively drilling rigs according to data collected by Baker Hughes for the week of December 29th. From one week ago, Alberta rig counts decreased from 162 to 118, the Saskatchewan rig count decreased by 29 to 3. Oil drilling went from 120 to 62; gas rigs went down from 90 to 74. Western Canada’s fleet of drilling rigs went up by 19 to the current count of 238 actively drilling rigs according to data collected by Baker Hughes for the week of December 15th. From one week ago, Alberta rig counts increased from 160 to 167, the Saskatchewan rig count increased by 15 to 43. Oil drilling went up 22 to 134; gas rigs went down 3 to 104. Kenney wins byelection in a landslide

CALGARY—Former federal Conservative cabinet minister Jason Kenney has won a seat in the Alberta legislature with over 70% of the vote. The leader of the United Conservative Party is the victor of a byelection in Calgary Lougheed, easily beating out six other candidates, including provincial Liberal Leader David Khan.
