Centrica agrees to the sale of its Canadian E&P business

The CQ Energy Canada Partnership (“CQ”), the Canadian E&P joint venture in which Centrica plc owns a 60% interest, is to be sold to a consortium comprising MIE Holdings Corporation (“MIE”), The Can-China Global Resource Fund and Mercuria for a purchase price of C$722 million (£413 million) in cash. Canada Weekly Rig Count Up 25% to 132

Western Canada’s fleet of drilling rigs have risen again this week to 132 actively drilling rigs according to data collected by Baker Hughes for the week of June 9. Drilling activity has increased the last month, and is still very active in comparison to last year’s count. From one week ago, Alberta rig counts rose from 57 to 78, Saskatchewan added rigs once more for the fourth straight week – current count at 30 which is up 22 from last week.
