The BOE Report is pleased to announce a record month in both Canada and the United States for total viewership. In total, 227,935 unique users visited BOEreport.com with 70 percent of the traffic coming from Canada, 25 percent from the United States, and the remainder from around the world. BOE’s core userbase remains in Calgary where 50 percent of the website’s traffic originated.

Users of BOEreport.com visit multiple times each day to check the latest in oil and gas news, and commodity prices. Reflecting this, BOEreport.com received 739,577 total page views in January alone.

Another encouraging trend for the BOE Report is the increase in companies of varying size choosing BOE as their news and information platform by adding the news feed to their corporate intranets or signing up for the daily digest email.

Record breaking user growth did not come without its growing pains however. Mid way through January, our servers experienced too much traffic and subsequently caused unexpected downtime on the site. In remediating this issue, BOEreport.com switched to a new server provider. The website is now on Amazon Web Services: the industry’s highest performing cloud based server.

User growth was fuelled by a combination of things. Primarily however, it was the publication of certain articles touching on hot button issues of the day. BOE Report stories were shared on social media 75,000 times. In discussing the debate over the merits of TransCanada’s Energy East pipeline project, Terry Etam’s article was shared over 20,000 times on social media.

Going forward, BOEReport.com will continue as an all-in-one real-time source for news headlines, well and drilling activity, property listings, economic reports and commodity prices. In addition to the news stories published on BOE’s homepage, the site will continue to offer users a variety of data features unique to the BOE Report. Through these various features, BOE will remain as an indispensable source for the most relevant information pertaining to North America’s oil and gas industry.
