November 27th Alberta Crown Land Sale totals $5.9 MM – Duvernay mineral rights in strong demand – BOE Intel

November 28, 20241:15 PM Dan Rutherford

The Alberta Government brought in $5.9 MM on its November 27th Crown land sale.

In total, 10,944 hectares were sold at an average price of $535.12/ha.

This was one of the smaller land sale results of the year, with only one more land sale to go in Alberta this year.

While it was a smaller land sale result, there were still some parcels of note.

Paramount Resources was the buyer of record for 1,536 hectares (6 sections) of deep rights near Willesden Green in an area where it already has a dominant position. Those rights are pictured in blue in Figure 1.

There was a separate parcel of land nearby that encompassed 768 hectares (3 sections), also with deep rights, that went to an unknown company who was represented by a land broker. This parcel (in purple in Figure 1) fetched the highest bonus in this land sale. Those 768 hectares went for $2,690,619 or $3,503/ha. ($896,873/section).

Presumably the target formation for these rights will be the Duvernay.

For reference in the map below, we have also included all of Paramount Resources’ mineral rights, as well as industry Duvernay licences over the last 1 year.
