Support Local Children and Families This Giving Tuesday Through Children’s Cottage Society’s Cottage Care Day

On Giving Tuesday, December 3, the Children’s Cottage Society will host its inaugural Cottage Care Day fundraiser at Eighth Avenue Place with live radio coverage from XL 103 FM. This event reimagines the beloved radiothon that took place from 2000 to 2014, blending nostalgia with modern giving opportunities. Tune into XL 103 FM from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or visit Eighth Avenue Place to support children and families in need.

Cottage Care Day aims to raise awareness about the vital services provided at Children’s Cottage Society’s new Child and Family Centre. After a decade of planning and development, the Centre opened in April 2024 and is now fully operational.

This state-of-the-art facility features Calgary’s only Crisis Nursery, designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children while parents address urgent needs, ensuring that families receive the support they require during times of crisis.

Since 1986, the Children’s Cottage Society has helped families cope with and overcome challenges, building on their strengths and turning adversity into possibility. Recently recognized as one of Charity Intelligence’s Top 10 Impact Canadian Youth Charities for 2024, the organization continues to demonstrate exceptional value in supporting children and families.

The energy sector plays a vital role in Cottage Care Day, with generous support from Richard and Lois Haskayne, Strathcona Resources Ltd., Veren, and Whitecap Resources Inc. Their contributions underscore the commitment of the energy industry to uplift local communities and assist families facing adversity.

Cottage Care Day will feature live music, exciting giveaways, and community interviews, providing both in-person and online participation options. Calgarians are encouraged to join the fun by attending the event, tuning in to XL 103 FM, or making a donation online.

By supporting the Children’s Cottage Society, you can help transform lives and create positive outcomes for countless children and families in Calgary.
