The discount on Western Canada Select (WCS) heavy crude versus the North American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) held steady on Tuesday:
* WCS for January delivery in Hardisty, Alberta settled at $12.25 a barrel under the WTI benchmark, according to brokerage CalRock, flat from the previous day.
* Global oil prices rose as markets looked to rising demand in China, the world’s largest buyer, and possible tight supply in Europe this coming winter and away from the overthrow of Syria’s president.
