Sinoenergy to invest $500 million into Long Run Exploration over the next two years
The Canadian government announced last Thursday that Sinoenergy Corporation will be investing $500 million (CAD) into Long Run Exploration over the next two years. Weekly rig count rises by 6 to 138
Canadian drillers added 6 rigs this week as operations head into fall drilling season. Currently, western Canada has 138 rigs working from its fleet of 669 (according to CAODC). Alberta added 9 rigs, increasing its total working fleet to 93. BC and Saskatchewan counts dropped by 2 each. Oil drilling has been more active of late as drilling for gas has been consistently hovering around the 60 rig mark. Current counts sit at 77 (oil) and 61 (gas). Vancouver votes to ban natural gas by 2050
The City of Vancouver voted to ban natural gas use by 2050. Mayor Gregor Robertson led the charge on the Renewable City Strategy which passed this summer.
