The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear Enbridge's bid to change the venue of Michigan's lawsuit seeking to force the Canadian pipeline operator to stop operating a pipeline underneath the Straits of Mackinac, waterways linking two of the Great Lakes, over environmental concerns. The justices took up Enbridge's appeal of a lower court's ruling rejecting the company's request to move the case from state court into federal court, a venue generally considered more friendly to defendants in [Read more]

June 30, 20259:35 AM The Canadian Press0 Comments

OTTAWA - Pierre Poilievre has chosen one of the safest possible places to make his return to the House of Commons — but the rural Alberta riding he's hoping to win in an August byelection could also be dangerous territory for the Conservative leader. Damien Kurek resigned his seat in Battle River—Crowfoot earlier this month after winning more than 82 per cent support in the April 28 election. Prime Minister Mark Carney has set Aug. 18 as the date for the byelection to choose Kurek's [Read more]

US energy firms eye new Northeast natgas pipelines, buoyed by Trump and demand outlook

June 30, 20254:00 AM Reuters0 Comments

U.S. energy companies are eying renewed opportunities to build natural gas pipelines to tap in to Appalachia shale formations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, buoyed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s pro-energy policies and expectations that demand for the fuel will rise in coming years. The U.S. is already the world's top gas producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas. While the country helps meet fuel demand around the world, many consumers in the U.S. Northeast do not have [Read more]
