NEB approves TransCanada’s 12-kilometre natural gas pipeline north of Toronto

August 4, 20164:09 PM The Canadian Press0 Comments

CALGARY – The National Energy Board has conditionally approved an 11.7-kilometre natural gas pipeline set to run through the city of Vaughan, Ont., just north of Toronto.

In a letter issued Thursday, the NEB said the TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) pipeline will be subject to 19 conditions, including Aboriginal monitoring of construction for potential archaeological finds and habitat protection of the western chorus frog.

The NEB said TransCanada has also made route changes to the pipeline to accommodate concerns of local landowners.

The Vaughan pipeline will be linked-up to TransCanada’s existing mainline system and the 11-kilometre King’s North Connection Pipeline that it’s working to complete.

TransCanada says the new gas lines will help supply the increased demand for natural gas in Ontario by providing improved access to new natural gas supplies from the U.S. northeast.
