Canada’s fleet of active drilling rigs shrank from 30 to 26 since last week according to data from Baker Hughes. Total drilling count was 26 at April 24th. 8 rigs were drilling for oil; 18 for natural gas. The drilling activity in Alberta fell from 17 to 16 since last week. Oil prices fell on Monday, depressed by concerns U.S. storage facilities will soon be full as the novel coronavirus pandemic destroys demand and as companies prepare to report their worst quarterly earnings since the 2008 financial crisis. The front-month May WTI contract fell $6.00, or 32.6%, to $12.41 a barrel. Brent was down $1.43, or 4.7%, to $26.98 a barrel. Total drilling count was 30 at April 17th. 7 rigs were drilling for oil; 23 for natural gas. The drilling activity in Alberta fell from 22 to 17 since last week.
