How Tourmaline achieves seamless data exchange within 48 hours of acquisition
In October 2023, Tourmaline Oil Corp acquired Bonavista Energy Corporation for $1.45 billion. It was their largest acquisition to date — Tourmaline’s number of wells effectively doubled overnight. Then came the hard part — transferring more than 6,000 well licenses between AB, BC, and SK and ingesting over 500,000 land and well files. An acquisition of this size would take most O&G companies months to complete. Magda Schmidt, Supervisor of Surface Land Admin at Tourmaline, [Read more]
Completion Superintendent Powers 6-Well Pad for $80 Per Day Using Site Gas
In West-Central Alberta, a Completions Superintendent at a large Oil and Gas Producer recently powered a six-well pad for around $80 per day (consuming 1.6 decs/day) by leveraging their own fuel gas. Evolution Power Projects, who supplied the 333 kW fuel gas turbine that powered the site, worked with the Operator to enact a pad electrification strategy. The choice to use a fuel gas turbine displaced multiple diesel generators and the accompanying fuel, logistics, and maintenance costs. Generator [Read more]

Why the Smartest Energy Sales Teams are Dialling Less – and Closing More
For decades, cold calling has been the backbone of B2B sales in the energy sector. From early-morning phone blitzes to endless follow-ups, sales teams have relied on volume and persistence to generate a pipeline. But the reality in today’s market is hard to ignore: cold outreach is getting colder. Decision makers are inundated with spam calls. Inboxes are flooded with generic sales emails. Buyers are more guarded, harder to reach, and far less tolerant of sales reps who don’t understand [Read more]
The CER issues certificate for Pouce Coupé Pipe Line Ltd. Taylor to Gordondale Pipeline Project
The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) has issued a certificate authorizing Pouce Coupé Pipe Line Ltd. to proceed with its Taylor to Gordondale Pipeline project, clearing a major regulatory step for the proposed link between British Columbia and Alberta. The approval allows the company to construct and operate the roughly 89-kilometre, 16-inch diameter pipeline once all applicable pre-construction conditions have been met, the regulator said on Tuesday. The proposed line would run from the existing [Read more]

Asset Rationalization: Timely Land Support in A&D Transactions
In today’s evolving energy landscape, oil and gas companies operating in Western Canada are under steadfast pressure to do more with less. Capital discipline, operational efficiency, and shifting investor expectations have heightened the importance of owning the right assets—not simply more assets. Asset rationalization has therefore become a core strategic exercise for upstream E&P companies. By actively evaluating, acquiring, and divesting oil and gas properties through [Read more]
