Open Letter to the Government of Canada – Part 2
Dear Prime Minister, Senators, Honourable MPs and Mr. Vandal, A few weeks past I wrote an Open Letter in order to highlight my concerns regarding my not being allowed to enter the Senate of Canada with my “I ♥ Canada Oil + Gas” shirt as it may offend some people. Shortly after publishing this, I was inundated with phone calls from Senators, media and people from the general public that were concerned about how this could happen in Canada. After Senator Tkachuk raised his concerns in a [Read more]
Minnesota court declines to review Enbridge Line 3 pipeline approval
The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear environmental and tribal challenges to Enbridge Inc’s Line 3 oil pipeline, a decision that removes one potential obstacle for the already-delayed project. The ruling means the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC), the state regulator that approved the Line 3 project last year, will not have to consider additional environmental issues. Line 3 is part of Enbridge’s Mainline network that transports western Canadian oil to Midwest [Read more]

After the National Energy Board reviewed the [Read more]

Remember that time Canada almost had an energy policy?
I was there the time Canada almost got an energy policy. It was July 2015. Provincial and territorial energy and mining ministers were gathered in Halifax for their annual ministerial. By tradition, the objective of this type of gathering within the federation is to show Ottawa a unified front on issues as a way to challenge the federal government’s tendency to balkanize its unruly junior members. It’s almost built to fail, with control-freak federal civil servants mostly holding the [Read more]
