Canada averaged 129 active drilling rigs this week according to data from the Canadian Association of Energy Contractors. Of those rigs, 49 are drilling for natural gas, 75 are drilling for oil, and 3 for other (helium, hydrogen, geothermal, or potash). U.S. energy firms this week added oil and natural gas rigs for a second week in a row as crude prices rose to their highest since 2018, prompting some drillers to return to the wellpad.
