Canada Rig Count up 9 from last week, down 96 from one year ago
Canada's fleet of active drilling rigs increased to 127 from the previous week's count of 118 according to Baker Hughes. Oil drilling totaled 85 rigs, while natural gas drilling totaled 42. Alberta was the only province with an uptick in activity, increasing its total from 63 to 73. Cleanup crews on site after Baytex Energy pipeline leak in northeastern Alberta
CALGARY - Cleanup crews are on site in northeastern Alberta after an estimated 630 barrels of salty produced water leaked from a pipeline operated by Baytex Energy Corp. The Alberta Energy Regulator says the leak was reported last Wednesday. It says the pipeline on the site about 45 kilometres southeast of Peace River has been shut down to stop the flow. Canada rig count remains steady as drilling season continues
Canada’s fleet of active drilling rigs held steady at 118 this week according to data collected by Baker Hughes. This is still fairly weak compared to last year around this time, when there were 211 rigs active.
