For the first time ever BOE Intel and Petro Ninja to offer NGL data in Alberta
The emergence of the Montney, Duvernay, and other liquids rich plays over the last number of years shone a bright light on a significant gap in the public data reporting for Alberta producers. This blind spot was a direct result of the Directive 17 imposed practice of reporting field condensate volumes for a gas well as gas equivalent volumes, where the field condensate was being recombined into the gathered gas stream. While the hydrocarbon liquid data for such wells existed, access to this [Read more]
While Chevron explores potential Duvernay sale, PetroChina licences Duvernay wells for the first time in a year and a half – BOE Intel
Chevron's Duvernay assets are in focus as the company is believed to be exploring a potential sale. A recent article in the BOE Report suggested a few mid-sized Canadian companies that were likely to be following the sales process closely. While Chevron's process will likely take some time, another non-Canadian company appears to be using this time to see what it has in its own Duvernay assets. PetroChina Canada recently licensed 4 Duvernay wells at Kaybob South, west of Fox Creek. Whether [Read more]

These are the 6 public Canadian E&Ps who have grown liquids weighting the most – BOE Intel
Many companies talk about growing their liquids weighting over time, but it's a very challenging thing to actually do. Often it is the type of thing that can really only be accomplished by acquisition, although sometimes companies are able to do it organically through new discoveries or a dedicated liquids focus. Still other companies haven't made this a focus at all, preferring to acquire significant resource to grow the depth of economic inventory rather than pursuing one commodity or the [Read more]
