Shell Canada reveals additional Montney acreage in hot area with mineral rights transfer from land broker – BOE Intel
BOE Intel picked up on a small mineral rights transfer yesterday in a hotly contested area, from a land broker to Shell Canada. The mineral rights transfer was for 5 sections, a minor blip for a company of Shell's size but noteworthy given industry interest in the Montney south of Grande Prairie. The Alberta Deep Basin was in focus again yesterday, as Tourmaline announced that it is acquiring Bonavista Energy for $1.45 billion. Tourmaline will pay half cash ($725 MM), and half common shares ($725 MM) to acquire more than 60,000 BOE/d of production. This transaction comes right on the heels of Peyto announcing that it was buying Repsol's Canadian assets which were largely centered around the Deep Basin as well. This private company just became the latest to acquire Clearwater acreage with mineral rights transfer of over 100 sections – BOE Intel
Karve Energy is the latest company to gain exposure to the Clearwater, by acquiring ~103 sections of mineral rights from Durham Creek Exploration. This transfer likely comprises the remaining assets for Durham Creek as the company was recently acquired by Lycos Energy Inc. BOE Intel picked up the mineral rights transfer on September 29, 2023.
